Terms of Use

Playing Feral means you accept these terms. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable.

SAFETY COMES FIRST, ALWAYS. Feral is a game played over a real map. Every cat in it roams, and there is never a reason to enter an unsafe place to reach one. Do not play while driving. Do not enter roadways, railway lines, waterways, private property, or anywhere you should not be. Watch where you are actually walking. Playing from somewhere safe yields exactly the same results — the game is built so that it does.

The beta

Feral is in a limited beta. It will have bugs, it will change, and features may appear or be removed. Saves may need to be reset between builds, and we will say so when that happens. It is provided as-is, without any warranty, and it is not fit for any purpose beyond playing a game.

Your account and your save

You do not need an account to play. If you choose to claim a save with an email address:

Keep access to that address — sign-in is a code sent to it, so losing the address means losing the account.
One person, one account. Do not share, sell, or transfer it.
You can ask us to delete it at any time and we will.
We may suspend an account that is being used to attack the service, abuse other players, or break these terms.

Local saves live on your device. Uninstalling the game, or clearing your browser's data, deletes them and we cannot recover them — that is what claiming an account protects against.

Purchases

Parts of Feral may be paid, now or later. If you buy something:

The price and what you get are shown before you pay.
Anything you buy is a licence to use it inside Feral. It is not property, has no cash value, and cannot be sold or transferred.
Refunds follow the rules of whichever store handled the payment, plus any right you have under your local consumer law, which these terms do not remove.
If the game shuts down we will give reasonable notice, and we will not take payment for something we already know we cannot deliver.

Fair play

Do not modify the game, automate it, tamper with saves to fabricate progress, attack the servers, scrape it, or resell access to it. Do not use Feral to harass anybody.

Who owns what

Feral owns Feral. The name, the artwork, the cats, the writing, the sound, the design and the code are the property of the Feral project and are protected by copyright. You are given a personal, non-transferable licence to play it. You are not given the right to copy, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or make something else out of it.

Screenshots and share cards from your own play are yours to post wherever you like. Please look at the privacy page first for why a raw map screenshot is worth thinking about.

Cats are not advice

Feral is a game about trap-neuter-return, fostering and rehoming, and it takes that subject seriously. It is still a game. Nothing in it is veterinary, medical, or legal advice, and it is not a guide to handling real animals. If you want to help real colonies, find a local TNR group and work with them.

Ending it

You can stop playing and delete your account whenever you want. We can suspend or end access if these terms are broken. If the service closes, we will give reasonable notice so accounts can be exported or deleted.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Feral is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from playing it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer where you live.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top changes with them, and anyone with an account is told before a material change takes effect. Continuing to play afterwards means accepting the new version.
