The short version. Feral does not have an advertising network, an analytics package, or a tracker in it. Your precise location stays on your device. There is no account unless you choose to make one, and if you never make one we hold nothing about you at all.

Your location

Feral is a map game, so it asks where you are. Here is exactly what happens to that:

Your precise coordinate stays on your device. It is written to the game's own storage on your phone or in your browser and is used to build your patch of the map around you.
Never in the background. Feral does not ask for background location and cannot follow you while it is closed. The game is designed to be playable from one spot, which is why it never needs to.
If you ever claim a save to an email address, only a coarse anchor is stored — rounded to roughly a kilometre, so it identifies a neighbourhood and not a doorstep. Everything else is kept as distances from that anchor. Your exact coordinate is not uploaded.

Map data comes from OpenStreetMap

This one matters and most apps do not say it plainly. The map tiles, the place names, and the checks that keep cats from spawning on railway lines are fetched live from OpenStreetMap and its public services (Nominatim and Overpass). To send you the right tiles, their servers necessarily receive the area you are looking at, along with the normal things any web request carries, such as your IP address.

That is true of every app built on a live map, including the big ones. We pass nothing to them beyond what a tile request requires — no account, no identifier, nothing about you. Their handling of those requests is governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

Your camera

Optional, and only for the scene view. Nothing from the camera is uploaded, stored, or looked at by us. Refuse the permission and the game plays perfectly well without it.

Accounts, if you want one

You can play Feral without ever giving us anything. Saves live on your device.

If you decide you want to keep a colony — move it to a new phone, or not lose it if you clear your browser — you can claim it with an email address. Then:

We store your email address and your game save. Nothing else.
Sign-in is a one-time code sent to that address. There is no password to leak.
We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your address, and we do not send marketing to it unless you separately ask for it.
Ask us to delete the account and we delete it — the address and the save both.

What we never do

No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
No third-party analytics or behavioural tracking.
No selling or brokering of any data, ever, including if this project is ever sold or closed.
No reading of your photos, contacts, files, or messages.

Sharing a moment

Feral can build a share card when something good happens. Those cards are generated on your device and are only sent where you choose to send them.

They never carry a colony name or a location, deliberately: colony names come from real streets near you, so printing one on an image you post publicly would give away where you live. If you take your own screenshots, be aware the map itself shows your real surroundings.

Children

Feral is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly hold an account for one. If you believe a child has given us an address, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the date at the top changes and anyone with an account is told before it takes effect.
