FERAL
Find them · Fix them · Home them

Street cats turn up on a real map of your own neighbourhood. Reach them, and then make the call that matters — trap-neuter-return, foster, or find them a home. You are not collecting cats. You are running a small rescue on no money, and every choice costs something.

Play it while you wander, or from one place — both are real ways to play. Most games of this shape pay you for distance walked. Feral pays for attention: roam and you turn up more colonies, sit with one and you reach cats a wanderer never sees.

HOW IT PLAYS

A rescue, not a collection

🗺️

YOUR OWN STREETS

Real map tiles under our own overlay. Cats wander their territories and fade out of sight behind cars and hedges. One walks into you and the encounter starts — you do not go clicking pins.

🎯

HOLD, AIM, THROW

A target ring shrinks and snaps back. Release as it closes — the tighter the ring, the better the throw. Soften a cat with food first, then throw a carrier and roll for it.

🏠

WANDER OR SIT STILL

Trust in a colony rises once a day however far you travelled to get there, and it pushes your reach out across the map. Cover ground for breadth, or work one patch for depth. Both get you cats.

🧬

COATS ARE INHERITED

Real feline genetics underneath — the orange gene rides the X, which is why the gingers are toms and the torties are queens. Every cat you neuter ends a line. Every one that gets away makes its colour louder six weeks later.

🔎

SEARCH THE DARK PLACES

Storm drains, dumpster rows, derelict barns, crawlspaces. Most searches find nothing — that is the honest version — but some turn up a litter, a stash, or something at the back that will not run because it cannot.

💷

NO MONEY, EVER

Adoptions pay a re-homing fee. Neutering costs a real vet bill. Fosters cost you every single day. Apply for grants and wait. Growing too fast is how small rescues fold.

THE CHOICE

Feral has an opinion, and it says so out loud

+60
Adopted
Home. The one you are playing for — and the one you cannot have for a feral, because in life you cannot either.
+40
Fostered
Off the street and socialising. Halfway home, and it costs you every day until it is placed.
+30
TNR — Returned
Trapped, neutered, ear-tipped, back on the ground it knows within a day. The colony stops growing and the cat keeps its territory. It is also the thing that drains your account.
+5
Surrendered to a shelter
Counted, but barely. An intact adult in a shelter has the worst odds in the building. It pays a little cash and it costs you real standing, because the game is not neutral about this and neither is the county.

A cat with a clipped left ear has already been through all this — somebody trapped, neutered and returned it. Log it and leave it be. Re-trapping a tipped cat wastes a trap and a vet slot another cat needed.

PERMISSIONS, AND WHY

Location — to build your patch around where you are. Coarse is enough. Never in the background: Feral does not track you while it is closed, and the stationary design is the reason it does not have to.

Camera — optional, for the scene view. Refuse it and the game plays perfectly well without.
